Jesus Is Fucking Metal

This is a track by a lacklustre band that I used to be in called Duncan Idaho. If you get the reference, great; if not, you should probably read more.

We were inspired by inner rage to create this jam, which I named after a Penny Arcade comic (above).

A superb track. Here’s what All Music Guide says about Duncan Idaho:

With a perfectly blended fusion of numerous musical styles and ideas, Duncan Idaho’s work has found equal luck with experimental jazz and noise fanatics, chill room denizens, and bedroom experimentalists. Their debut album (Potatoes, 2003) was a fairly straightforward death metal album, although heavy use of keyboards made it stand out a bit from other such albums at the time. Although some groups like Emperor and Mayhem had already been making noise for a while, the next generation of groups were the first to directly take their influence from Duncan Idaho’s efforts. DI drafted bassist Matt Gourd from a hitherto unknown West London houseshare, and despite numerous lineup changes, especially in the revolving-door rhythm section, Duncan Idaho’s basic, few-frills take on the trademark North London sound remained fairly steady, and the group eventually managed to land an international deal with West Indian Original Hot Pepper Sauce (2004). Even though the band never managed another hit as big as “Jesus is Fucking Metal” many of their subsequent singles boasted the same kind of creative synergy between John and Stephen. It apparently carried over into real life as well, since the two joined in 2005, and went on to run the systems infrastructure of an obscure online company. The group disbanded in 2006, when Dave left to go solo; John and Matt splintered into the short-lived folk-rock precursors the Archway Guitar Quartet, leaving Stephen to spawn two of the smallest psychodelic-industrial-kpop groups, Alien Items, and Darius the Mede and the Four World Empires.
